Hello Ladies!
Our Golf Tournament is just 14 days away!!  Preparations for an amazing array of raffle prizes continue and your support is appreciated.  If your company hands out swag, perhaps you could ask if they would be willing to donate.  There is still room for more hole sponsors (just $100).  This is great advertisement for local businesses.  Some parishioners sponsor a hole in memory of a loved one.  If you know someone who golfs, please ask them if they would like to golf with us!  $100 gets them an 18 hole round of golf with a cart.  The course always looks really great!  Continental breakfast is served and a great buffet lunch.  We bring the fun and our raffles are really great!  Working the day of the event are:  Linda Champagne, Vicki Rosich, Renee Asmar, Yolande Tice, Kathy Brophy, Rosie Payne, Paula Nowakowski, and myself.
Handicapped Accessibility for the Church Hall is moving along.  Paul Morin has been doing lots of work on the drawings and consulting with engineers.
We are sponsoring a comedy show!  The date is Saturday, November 5th.  The comedian’s name is Dave Kane.  You can check him out at www.davekane.net.  Dave portrays an Irish Catholic Priest for fun and shenanigans.  For now, please hold the date open.  This should be a really fun event!  So far Alex Kral, Jo Ann Rowley, Kathy Kral, Becky Jusseaume, and Kristi Surratt are on the committee.  We should have the stage curtain up by then, so we will really look legit!  We may want to consider buying more new chairs before November…..
There is one room available for the Cape Cod Trip that the Knights of Columbus are running.  The kicker is that the $50 deposit has already been paid, so you get the room for a discounted rate of $240.  That pays for double occupancy for three nights – September 16-19.  Stan and I have been going on this trip for years and have a ball!  Contact Bob or Ceil Roberge, if you want to join the fun!
Preparations are going very well for our Christmas Bazaar on November 19th.  Our next committee meeting will be Wednesday August 17th at 6:00pm at my house.
Linda Demanuel is in need of adopting.  She is a delightful woman who joined recently and doesn’t have e-mail.  Please let me know if you would be able to call her if something comes up in the middle of the month that is sent out via e-mail.  I mail out hard copies of the newsletter to all who don’t have e-mail, so they know what’s going on.  The problem comes in if something pops up, everyone should be included.  It’s a great way to make a new friend!
I have been re-elected as Connecticut State Financial Secretary and will be attending the Supreme Convention in August as a delegate.  I am pleased to report that I will be accepting this year’s Margaret Mary J. Mangan Award on your behalf.  This award is awarded for excellence in several categories of accomplishments throughout the year.  We have received this award every year of eligibility.  This award is a testament to all of the hard work that we do all year.
Once again Madeline Illinger and Dorla Barres are putting together Back to School Backpacks for disadvantaged kids.  Last year they assembled almost 60 backpacks!  They are looking for backpacks and school supplies.
Our next meeting is this coming Monday, August 1st, at 7:00pm at the Church Hall.  Social Hour begins at 6:00pm.  If the meeting feels like it came up pretty quickly, it did!!  The July meeting was a week late due to the holiday, and the August meeting is right at the first of the month.  If you have adopted a member without e-mail, please give her a call about the meeting and I am mailing this newsletter to her.  Thanks for all you do!
