Hello Ladies!
I am pleased to tell you that I have been elected as your State Financial Secretary and will be attending this year’s Supreme Convention in New Jersey as an Alternate Delegate.  Being on the State Board has been a learning experience for me and it is a great joy to get to know our Sister Columbiettes from around the State.
We are on the home stretch for the Golf Tournament.  Please do what you can to support this excellent fund raiser!  Here’s the scoop:
Date - Friday, August 14th
Place – River Ridge Golf Course
Registration & Danish – 9:00am
Tee Time – 10:00am
Cost per Golfer - $100 – includes a buffet lunch.
Lunch Only - $30 at approximately 2:45pm.
Hole Sponsorship - $100 – any business or person can sponsor a hole.  We’ve had several people sponsor a hole in memory of a loved one.
Volunteers the Day Of – Vicki Rosich, Dorla Barres, Kathy Brophy, Kathy Luty, Terri Craig, Patty Martinell, Paula Nowakowski, Rosie Payne, Bea Denomme, Linda Champagne.  There’s room for more!
More Stuff – We will have games, prizes, raffles, and lots of fun.  Volunteers will be running various aspects of this and generally making sure that everyone has a good time.  Trust me, you don’t have to golf to help out and have fun.  Just watching me drive a golf cart is worth the price of admission!
How Can I Help? –
Do you know anyone who owns a business who may want to donate a gift certificate for our raffle or    sponsor a hole?
Do you know any golfers who want to go out and have a good time to support a great cause?  They don’t have to be great golfers.  In fact, most of our golfers are pretty average and just enjoying a nice day out.
If you’re on Facebook, please share our event with all of your friends.
Plans are underway for this year’s Wine & Beer Tasting on September 26th  - again at the Griswold Fish & Game Club.  Tickets are $20 each ($25 the day of the event, if available).  Sue Haulotte will have them at the meeting.  Last year’s Wine & Beer Tasting was amazingly popular!  This year we’ll be having a 50/50 raffle and basket raffles.  This year’s committee consists of:  Sue Haulotte, Becky Jusseaume, Kathy Luty, Kathy Brophy, Paula Nowakowski, Dorla Barres, and Jo Ann Rowley.  More details at the meeting.
The Christmas Committee had a very productive meeting and we expect this event will be our best yet!  Our next meeting is scheduled for  Tuesday, August 11th at 6:00pm at my house.
Our next Work Night will be Wednesday, August 12th.  This month we worked on the stage curtain and put up the new sign which is currently promoting the Golf Tournament.  I do so love the sign!!
As we are Pro-Life as a group, we will be having a “Baby Shower” to benefit young women who decide to keep their babies.  This will be on September 13th.  Cheryl Morin (chair), JoAnn Rowley, Kathy Kral, Donna Coombs, Yolande Tice, Kristi Surratt, and Linda Champagne have signed up for the committee.  We will be working out the details soon.
All this work and we need a little fun just for us!  At Renee’s suggestion, we decided to have a Columbiettes Summer Picnic on Tuesday, August 18th.  This will be at Hopeville Park Beach at 5:00pm.  Bring your good ideas to the meeting for this fun event!
Fr. Ted is on vacation, so no decision has been made on the Tables & Chairs for the Church Hall.  Sheila has the pricing and as soon as Fr. Ted makes a decision, we will begin to promote collecting for this.
Cheryl Morin and Donna Coombs are preparing another Living Rosary on October 11th.
Dates for all of our Columbiettes events are on our website – – as well as more information for others who may be interested.  For the new members, please feel free to jump in on any committee that interests you!  Many of our committees have more people than necessary.  It makes these events more fun, and it’s a great way to get to know your new Sister Columbiettes!
As you know, we have some members who do not have e-mail.  These people are “adopted” by members with e-mail so they are notified of things as they come by.  I mail them the newsletter, so they’re all set on this.  It’s really just for things that come up during the month.  Our new members Marie Atieh and Therese Garguis are in need of adoption.  Let me know if you can help.
I have attached a new contact information sheet.  A few people changed their e-mail or phone number and this is the latest information.  I will also have a few copies at the meeting.
Our next monthly meeting will be August 3rd at 7:00pm.  Social Hour will begin at 6:00pm.  Once again I will be in the middle of third shift and will be rushing out immediately after the meeting to catch a little more sleep.  Please don’t think I’m angry with you or anyone else – just tired!
Thanks for all you do to make us great!
