June Update

What a lovely day Cheryl, Kristi, Vicki, and I had yesterday!  The drive was so fun and the venue was beautiful.  The business meeting was interesting and it was good to see everyone again.  We sat with the ladies from Myron Miller.  They are at St. Cecilia's Church in Stamford, which is my old Parish.  Small world!  The business meeting ran long, as is pretty common, and we were very hungry by the time lunch came around.  I am attaching a couple of pictures.  One includes the new State Officers.  You may recognize a couple of them!  The swag included a blue leather traveling card holder with the Columbiettes logo imprinted on the cover (so very nice and it fits my badge inside!!!) and a Columbiettes eyeglass case.  We will be raffling off one of the travel card holder and two eyeglass cases at our next meeting for a dollar a ticket.  Proceeds to go the general fund.

Our shoeboxes (we brought about 25), along with shoeboxes from all other auxiliaries, were very well received.  There were so many!  I received a suggestion to advertise in the bulletin for shoebox items throughout the year, and have sent that to Sheila.  What a great idea!  Our baskets for the basket raffle were also among the most popular.  Thanks to Ceil for putting these together for us.  Obviously, I took all the credit!  ;D

We are still collecting items for the Golf Tournament.  Rosie has suggested that if everyone brings a chocolate item to this month's meeting, they could be put together for a basket for the raffle.  Great idea!  Ceil has volunteered to make it look fabulous!  Also, consider donating a prize for the Golf Tournament raffle.  We had such an amazing array of prizes last year.  Everyone was very impressed.  If you know any golfers, now's the time to ask if they are interested in golfing with us.  They can sign up on the website, or fill out the form that is circulating (attached here also).  If they have golfing buddies - great!  If not, we can pair them with other golfers to form a foursome.  Thanks again to our amazing Golf Tournament Committee who are working so hard to put this all together!

The pot luck we had the other night to spend some time with Trish before she moves away to follow her heart's desire was so fun!  There were probably 30 of us, and the food was really great.  Best of all, it was really nice to see all of you when there's no business to conduct.  A suggestion was made to have a Christmas Party (not a silly Holiday Party like those other groups).  Let's do it!  We might even want to have a BBQ this summer.  We can discuss this at the next meeting.

I hear through the grapevine that our very own Traci Edwards was selected for Parish Council today!  I hope you're all having a fabulous day!  Our next meeting is July 7th.  See you then!
