Hello Ladies!

Allow me to open with the big news.  Drumroll, please….. We brought in six new members on December 1st!  This brings our total membership to 47.  Rebecca Jusseaume, Amy Ott-Hanes (Ann’s sister), Kristi Surratt, Renee, Joann Belisle, and Ann Leffler have joined our merry band of ladies.  Fr. Steve had lovely things to say about our group at the 11:00am Mass and it was nice to celebrate our one year anniversary with so many of you and your families.  Thanks to the Degree Team for putting on two First Degrees to be able to accommodate all of our new members!  Going forward we will have a First Degree on the first Sunday of each quarter.  The next date is March 2nd.

In other big news, our Christmas Bazaar is this Saturday, December 7th from 10:00am-4:00pm.  Here’s how it shakes out for this week:

  • Joann Belisle has volunteered to take out the Christmas Bazaar sandwich sign and update it to be put out on the day of the bazaar.  Sue Haulotte will go to the dollar store and purchase helium balloons for out front.
  • All members are being asked to bake finger food impulse buy items for sale at the food booth.  Examples would be cookies, cupcakes, and brownies, but feel free to use your imagination!
  • Set up begins Thursday night at 6:00pm.  We will be setting up tables and making the Church Hall look festive.  The Church Hall will be open at 11:00am on Friday to continue setting up.  Members can arrive whenever they are available to help.  Members who are also vendors are welcome to set up on Friday as well.
  • For The Big Day, many of you signed up with one table or another.  If you can’t remember what you signed up for, please contact me or just show up.  We will find a home for you!!  The more people we have working, the better it is!  Doors will open for vendor set up at 8:00am.  The Bazaar opens officially at 10:00am.
  • Food and beverages will be available all day for purchase.  Feel free to bring your own, if you like.
  • Thanks to all of you for making this Christmas Bazaar such a wonderful success!!  We can only put on large events like this because so many of you support it.

We have only one December birthday.  Join me in wishing Madeline Illinger (12/23) a very happy birthday!

4th Friday Movie Night is cancelled for the month of December and will resume in January.  The January movie will be The Hunger Games.

Our semi-annual audit is being conducted this month by our Acting Past President - Kathy Brophy, along with Sue Haulotte, and Traci Edwards.  They will meet with Kathy Kral and Ann Olewnik this month and report back at the January meeting.

I am having a Pampered Chef book party with my favorite consultant - Ann Olewnik!!  I have catalogues and order forms.  You can get to the party online by going to and adding my name to the box on the upper left.  I am also going to add a link on our website ( to make it a bit easier.  Let’s help our Sister Columbiette, Ann, reach her December goals!  The party will close December 14th, and you will have your new goodies before Christmas.  Maybe someone on your Christmas list loves to cook?  You can’t beat Pampered Chef for great quality!

Four of our Sister Columbiettes are singing in the Griswold Chorus Concert on Sunday, December 15th at 2:00pm at our own St. Mary’s Church.  Please consider attending this wonderful event to cheer on our own Phyllis Brown, Mary Ann Manning, Diane Manning, and Paula Nowakowski.  I have added this date to our calendar.

Please use our website ( for all things Columbiettes!  The calendar shows all of our events and many other Parish and Holy Spirit Catholic Community events as well.  Also, feel free to make suggestions for additions or improvements.

If you have adopted a member without e-mail, please be sure to call her about the Christmas Bazaar arrangements.  I will print and mail this, but it will arrive too late to be of any help for the Bazaar.  Thanks!

I would like to wish you and your families a most wonderful and blessed Christmas season!  Thanks for all you do!
